InaCOMP started with one person’s bet on personal computers. It became a company that schools, public agencies, and businesses in many states rely on for the technology in their buildings.

Where we come from

An early-1980s personal computer with a green-screen monitor, floppy disks, and a dot-matrix printer on a computer store counter.

Michael Kanan was driving a forklift at the Stroh’s brewery when he took a chance on personal computers. He learned the business from Rick Inatome, the founder of Inacomp Computer Centers, who later gave him the InaCOMP name.

Since 1982 the company has grown from selling computers to designing, installing, and supporting the networks, cameras, classrooms, and devices that schools and businesses run on. The products have changed many times. The belief behind them has not: technology should meet the needs of people, not the other way around.
